| Using a battery in a drive bay Hi guys, Bit of a strange one here. I will soon be getting a Compaq M300 with the MEU but I have been told the battery is on it's last legs. I have found a source for a battery that sits in the Multi-bay of the MEU (docking bay) but I wondered if such a battery will still power the laptop if the laptop battery itself is dead or not even in place. Obviously it will only work with the laptop connected to the MEU (I ain't that fick, lol) My thinking being that maybe the drive bay battery runs the laptop THROUGH the laptops own battery. Any clues? Cheers, Steve |

With a CD/DVD in there it uses ONE connector, the battery uses another. http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bizsupport...&lang=en&cc=us http://h20000.www2.hp.com/bc/docs/su...170706-002.pdf see pg 73 of pdf ( ch 5 - pg 7) |

In fact, the M300 does not run off both batteries at once anyway; it drains one first, then the other. I think it pulls from the bay battery first, then switches to the main battery once the bay runs out of juice. However the M300 is significantly ugly and heavy with the MEU attached. There are plenty of sources for third-party normal batteries; grab one! (The MEU battery does, however, last longer). |
