| Compaq "PC Recovery Disc Creator" is making coasters I'm trying to complete the setup of a brand new Compaq Presario for my church. The step giving me trouble is creating the recovery discs. Believe me, when something goes wrong & the thing is brought back to me, I want those discs! It offers to put them on 3 DVD's or 15 CD's. I chose DVD's. The first one it made, it found an error during verification. Put in a new one & it came out OK. Trying for disc 2, I've run 3 discs through & all have come out as coasters. That's 1 success out of 5. What can I do to get this thing done without burning up a palette of discs?! Thanks in advance. Daniel Wilson |

Try a regular burner program to verify that the drive works in that mode. Clean the lens. Use rewritables. I don't understand the process, but my compaq allows only one copy of the disks to be made. Not sure if a bad burn counts as a (the) copy made... Programs that access the drive directly have to make some assumptions about the speed and quality of the disks you're using. I have the same problem with Acronis True Image. Won't make a DVD backup, just ejects the disk saying it's bad. Ghost works just fine with that drive and disk. Different brand may work better. mike > > Thanks in advance. > > Daniel Wilson > |
