32 or 64bit windows (Vista/XP) for my Core2Duo?

1:
Should I install 32 or 64bit windows (Vista/XP) on my laptop with a Core2Duo
cpu?

2:
Will I gain any performance if I use Vista instead of XP?

(Its a Zepto 6615WD laptop:

Thanks!

The Core2Duo is not a 64 bit machine.

Vista is not out yet. Some will say yes and others will say no. Some
programs will not work with Vista that worked with XP

It has not been released to retail yet, but the final release has been
available to developers for over two months now.

Yes it is:
"As Intel's brand-new common microarchitecture, Core is of course equipped
with all of the latest features. String 'em together, and you get something
like this: MMX, SSE, SSE2, SSE3, SSE4, EM64T, EIST, C1E, XD, and VT, to name
a subset of the complete list. The most notable addition here is probably
EM64T-Intel's name for x86-64 compatibility-because the Core Duo didn't have
it. In order to make its way into desktops and servers, Core needed to be a
64-bit capable processor, and so it is."

Yes it is. It's CoreDuo that isn't.

You are correct. I stand corrected.
