Fujitsu N Series SD Card Reader won't read over 1 GB

I have a Fujitsu N Series 6010 Laptop and I recently dicovered that the
SD card slot will not read a 2 GB card. Is there a way to update the
driver or am I stuck using an external reader? It maxes out at 1 GB.
Fujitsu has no solution.

It's not the driver per se, it's the firmware in the reader module. 2GB
and larger cards use a different addressing scheme; old readers will
not work with them.
