| Lenovo T60 CD drive failed Hi, I've had my T60 for around 3 weeks. A few ago the CD drive completely stopped working, the prescese of a CDROM in the drive is not detected. I also have Linux (PCLOS) installed. When I boot into Linux the drive is not even shown. To make sure this is not a software corruption issue, I made a Linux Live CD (using another machine of course) and tried to boot from the CDROM. This also failed and the system booted into the default Windows instead. Are there ways I can make sure that this is a hardware problem with the drive ? if this is confirmed then what is the best approach then ? Another problem with the laptop is that i'm unable to boot the machine using a linux USB key (made bootable using syslinux) even though i correctly select USB devices to boot before the drive. Could this problem be related to the cd drive problem as well ? I did do a bios upgrade a week or two ago. Any help would be appreciated. |

| Re: Lenovo T60 CD drive failed If you have a friend with a system that uses the same drive; you could try swapping it into their system. You could try the diagnostic software that should be installed on the Windows partition; on my T40 it's PC Doctor. If your system was purchased new, it should be under warranty. A call to EZ-Serv may result in them sending a replacement. Phil Sherman sdac wrote: > Hi, I've had my T60 for around 3 weeks.
