My problem that has only just happened is that when the power cable is
IN the the screen becomes DARK, when the power cable is out the screen
becomes LIGHT. I assume you can see the fail in logic there. its
very annoying when im photo editing.

I have gone into power manager but there is no option to amend this.

Are you sure you can't set screen brightness for battery and for power so
they are the same? Or not?

Re: Power error: compaq r4000

I had the same brightness problem, that was driving me mad!!
the screen would be bright when running on battery, then go dim when attached to the mains power.
i searched online and read that it was problems with the bios or problems with the power management etc.. until i came across a solution that worked for me and was sooo simple. if you are having this problem, try this:

*plug the dc power cable in
*press and hold the 'fn' key on the keyboard, and press the brightness up key (F8) until the screen is bright.
*remove the dc power cable
*press and hold the 'fn' key on the keyboard, and press the brightness down key (F7) until the screen is dim.

and thats it!! test by plugging the dc power cable in (screen should brighten) and then remove it again (screen dims)

hope this helps
