Re: when will laptops be shipped with vista?

Presumably beginning on January 30th, but there will still be "old"
inventory in the channels as well that will still have XP (although if
you buy before March 15th, you should be eligible for a free upgrade to
Vista. Under some circumstances, it's possible to get a machine with
Vista on it today, but it has to be part of a volume purchase (at least
5 computers) with certain vendors only.

There is an argument to be made for getting a new computer now with XP
AND with the free vista upgrade.

Re: when will laptops be shipped with vista?

So would it be better to wait to buy a laptop with Vista loaded rather
than installing the upgrade to minimize any problems with subsequent
installation?

Re: when will laptops be shipped with vista?

I made a conscious choice to buy now and get both OS' rather than wait
and get Vista only (this also insures that you do, in fact, get media
for Vista ... if you wait, you may ONLY get it pre-installed on the hard
drive with no DVD media). But this is a call that each buyer will have
to make for themselves.
