lap top memory problem

I have Lanova 3000 N100 lap top for last 6 months. It has only one hard
drive and the C drive do not have any partition. This C drive has been
there since Lenova sent me preloaded windows-xp home.
Till now it was o.k. but some days back I found the lap top had slowed
down. I first defregmented
the C drive and run symantec software for any possible virus. Then to
my surprise I found that the 70 GB memory was showing 62GB full. This
was a shock and surprise to me. my data was no more than 25GB. On
checking the C drive this discrepancy was noticed.
On checking with Lenova they advised to format the C-drive. I already
did format the C-drive once but the problem has reappeared and again
the memory is showing the same problem.
Could anybody help.
regards,
vasu

You say "format" the drive - do you actually mean format and then reinstall
the factory software?

If you are saying that shortly after reinstalling the software to factory
configuration, the drive rapidly fills up with data using up to 62gb of
space, the most likely explanation is a virus/trojan, or perhaps an unusual
defect with the hard disk.
