| Low data burst rates (eMachines w/ Toshiba HDD) I've just run HD Tach on my eMachines M5309 laptop with the hard disk that shipped with the unit (toshiba mk6021gas ga024a). The burst data speed appears low, and I'd like to know if this is something that can be cleared up by installing the correct / newer disk controller drivers in Windows XP or if this is just a limitation of the physical controller on this model of notebook. HD Tach Results --- Burst speed: 28.5 MB/s Random access: 21.1ms Average read: 18.7 MB / s CPU Util: 4% (+/- 2%) Thanks, Duncan |

BTW, any Toshiba brand HDD with a MK number that ends in an "S" is a 4200RPM drive. If the MK number ends in an "X" it is a 5400RPM drive. me/2 |
