Does Vista come with IE7?

Does Vista come with IE7 and no way to get IE6 on the thing? If this is
true, my predictions for fewer migrating to Vista is going to be worse
than I ever imagined.

Yes it has IE7 and it cannot be removed and replaced by IE6. I agree it
is one of many reasons not to "upgrade" to Vista anytime soon.

Re: Does Vista come with IE7?

My Dad said he hates IE7 as well, but with my limited experience using it on
his machine, it didn't seem so bad. What's so horrible about IE7? Other than
the quite usual security disasters like every other IE release that is.

Waiting to upgrade wont change the fact about IE7... It's going to be
there now and later. It's not going to be removed.

Re: Does Vista come with IE7?

Unless it could be removed from the Add/Remove windows components thing
like in XP.
I don't have a doubt that someone will find out how to remove it.
Eventually...

Re: Does Vista come with IE7?

It can't. That was part of the Microsoft problem to begin with when Bill
Gates on the stand said it was part of the OS and could not be removed.

But to Install IE6, Can't be done. I just tried it and it wont allow it
to be Installed.

Well, at least until it is replaced by IE8.

Fine, but compared to IE6 it's a lot more standards complaint, has more
features (e.g., doesn't truncate web pages when printing, has tabbed browsing,
phishing filter, etc.), is no slower and freezes no more often. That's what
the vast majority of people are going to be comparing it to...

The problem with IE has always been the non-standard html/xml that it
supports/has supported - and IE7 is no different in that respect.

Re: Does Vista come with IE7?

There is nothing horrible about IE7, and it's better than IE6 in almost
every way. But it's different, which some people see as a brick wall.
If you make just a few minor changes, it becomes "less different". The
first change is to turn on the menu bar, and I just can't believe MS'
stupidity in make "menu bar off" the default.

Don't kid yourself Barry. There are lots of bugs still in IE7. Like
ignoring anything after # in a URL. It's new and buggy! Everything *new*
is buggy. Wait till people start buying Vista. lol

If you read the Vista specifications really carefully, IE7 would be
only the least of your problems - you like the idea of MS being able
to "switch off" your Vista because one of your hardware drivers
doesn't support their ideas of DRM and the manufacturer of your
hardware (most often in this case the graphics card) is either too
slow, unable or not willing to provide a new driver as to Microsoft's
demands? (the manufacturer might be simply out of business, or
consider your hardware as too old for support) - it's only one of many
frightening scenarios that lie ahead with Vista...

Remember, that with a laptop you couldn't even change that specific
hardware to be conform again but effectively would have a computer
that suddenly won't work with the recent MS-OS anymore - none of it
due to any fault of yours...
