| USB keyboard does not wake up machine I have connected a USB keyboard to my machine but the only way to wake it up after stand-by is pushing on the power button. Is there any way I can alter this behavior? Specifics: Acerpower1000. Not exactly a laptop but close enough ... Regards -- John Doue |

Generic advice (I don't have an Acerpower1000): Check (1) the BIOS setup -- some have settings for whether or not the keyboard can wake up the machines and (2) device manager in Windows -- right-click on the keyboard in question, go to Properties->Power Management and make sure that "allow this device to bring the computer out of standby" is checked. ---Joel |

Not such setting > in Bios nor in the Keyboard properties ... > I eventually found a solution. For lack of obvious Bios setting and in the absence of Power Management tab in Device Manager, I came to realize that there are different stages of Stand By (S1 ...S3) and I entered the following in the registry: ________ Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00 [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Servic es\usb] "USBBIOSHACKS"=dword:00000000 "USBBIOSx"=dword:00000000 ________ The only thing I can say is, this works and my keyboard does wake up my machine. The file's name is "usbkb_s3_wakeup.zip" but unfortunately, I am not sure where I found it. Probably on MS site, but I am not sure. Of course, I backed up my registry before applying this entry. Hope this will be of use to someone. Best regards -- John Doue |

And I thought a self powered USB hub might be the trick. But I like your solution. Thanks John. <grin> -- Bill |

Before I had a PS/2 keyboard and the wake up was no more working since I changed it for a USB. Thanks! |
