| Simple synchronizing tool? There are some programs that I will be running, at different times, from both my desktop computer and my new laptop - such as Eudora for mail, my news reader, IM programs, and similar stuff. I'd like to find a simple synchronizing program that will compare the date/time stamps of files in specifically defined shared folders over the LAN, and then make sure both computers have the newer files. I've never used such a program before, and don't know anything about them. I would appreciate suggestions from anyone who has found a simple synchronizer that they like. Oh, and free is best, if that's possible. If it matters, the LAN uses a wireless router, with the desktop being wired, and the laptop being wireless. Thanks |

| Re: Simple synchronizing tool? Here's one I've used. Fairly simple to set up, and free. http://www.microsoft.com/windowsxp/u...o/synctoy.mspx Yes, M$ does sometimes give us a few goodies. | Re: Simple synchronizing tool? It's been a while since I've used it, but yes, I believe you will need only one installation and can control the synchronizing in both directions. An alternative is DSYNCHRONIZE, found at http://dimio.altervista.org/eng/ which I use to coordinate 57 GB worth of files between two of my machines for a development project. If you can install it, go for SyncToy, it is very slick and a little bit faster. |

Two messages ago you read: Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail? A: Bottom-posting. In the previous messages you read, after scrolling down: Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail? A: Bottom-posting. Q: Why is bottom-posting such a bad thing? And now, if you scroll down far enough, again, you learn: Q: What is the most annoying thing on usenet and in e-mail? A: Bottom-posting. Q: Why is bottom-posting such a bad thing? A: Because since every moron quotes everything in the message to which they are replying, you end up reading the same stuff again, and again, and again, and again, until you barf. |
