I would like to install win 2000 on my portege 3480. However, I have a
very difficult time getting it to boot from external cd drives. I have
tried with both a iomega Cd-drive and a LiteOn DVD-drive. Neither of
them works. Both drives are connected via USB port. I have read
somewhere that it's only possible to boot via pcmcia cd drives on the
3480 - can that really be true??

Hope somebody can help me out.

Copy the contents of the install CD to the hard drive and install from
there. I don't remember whether it will install from a HD boot.
May have to boot a win98 floppy to get started.
