| Dell Inspiron screen dim Hi: I have a Dell Inspiron laptop e1405. The screen always has been difficult to see, not nearly as clear as my desktop monitor. What are the best settings for better viewing? It always seems so dim. Thanks for any advice. |

I think your problem is do to the newer glossy displays that most laptops use nowadays. As I normally use an external flat screen display with my laptop because of this. I believe Barrabas explained this best! While shopping for a laptop for the Mrs., it suddenly dawned upon me as to why the glossy screens appeal to the DVD crowd, and not the computing crowd... DVDs are typically viewed in a dimly lit room, without the concern of lights reflecting off the screen, while computer users are typically in a well lit room, with overhead/desktop/etc. lights, all of which add to the possibility of screen reflections.
