Ricoh sd card reader problem in Dell Inspiron 6400

I bought a Dell Inspiron 6400 two weeks ago, every thing works fine
except for the built-in ricoh 5in1 card reader. When i use a ms card, a
xD card or a mmc card i have no problem, but when i want to use my 1 GB
SD card, i cant read it, and the Explorer always wants to format the
card. I installed the lastest drivers available from dell website and
didnt work.
When i format the card in the laptop i cant read it in other devices (I
use this card on a HP hx4700 with WM 5.0).
Any Suggestions to fix the Problem?

You can read xD cards? I never had seen a computer to be able to read
them yet. And I have been looking for years. I am glad someone can read
them. As those are the only cards I own. <sigh>

Mine only reads 4-in-1 Digital Media Manager; Secure Digital, Memory
Stick, Memory Stick-Pro, and MMC. :(

Re: Ricoh sd card reader problem in Dell Inspiron 6400

Hey,

I just got a 6400 too from Dell about a week ago, and it reads the
cards ok. Have you tried re-installing the drivers? These multi-card
readers can be annoying sometimes.

I had a question about the card readers...

When you put the SD in there, does it lock in place with a spring?
Because mine does. But when I try putting a memory stick in there, it
won't lock into place? Do you have that problem too?

Re: Ricoh sd card reader problem in Dell Inspiron 6400

I had the same issue with an Inspiron 6400 with the Ricoh SD card reader error.

I finally found a driver that worked at the following website:

Ricoh 5-in-1 Card Reader Host Controller*Compaq Presario V3199TU Notebook PC

After installing this driver (sp32825.exe) and rebooting, I stuck my 1GB SD card in and was able to read it.

Good luck!
