| Prostar A.K.A. Clevo 8500v Power problems Stupid me decided to tilt this laptop back while it was plugged in. Now it won't charge. Plug was broken when I got it. I glued it back together and was working fine untill I tilted it. The power light on the supply still comes on. There are no bent pins in the laptop all looks well. I even took the laptop apart to check the solider joints on the power jack and all looks well. The laptop dosen't respond the the powersupply at all, no light, runs off of the battery when it's plugged in, battery dosen't charge. I'm thinking maybe something shorted and fried the powersupply when it was tilted. Does anyone know the pinout of this powersupply so I can rule it out?? The pinout or any other suggestions are greatly appreciated. Thanks for your time. Regards, Chance |

I found the ground pin by opening up the brick and it was printed on the board. The sticker on the bottom of the supply reads DC output 20V, Charge output 8.5v-20v. Does this sound right? | Re: Prostar A.K.A. Clevo 8500v Power problems Sorry again for replying to my own post but I bit the bullet and cut the plug off of the adapter. After some testing I was pretty shure this was the problem. Shure enough after cutting the plug and connecting the leads directly to the lap top it started charging the battery and runing off of the adapter. So my question now is can I buy just the plug or will I have to put down $50 for a whole adapter? If anyone knows a place I can buy just the plug at I'd love to know. Thanks again for your time. | Re: Prostar A.K.A. Clevo 8500v Power problems Hi Chance What power supply is yours? I think i may have the same one, it has a 4 pin square connector, and the model is ILAN F1900, with DC OUTPUT 20v 3.25A / CHARGE OUTPUT 8.5v~20v 1.2A. Is this the same spec as yours? Could you post what the pinout of this is? My cable had three wires plus a ground shield, here is what I think the pinout is, could you confirm it with yours pls? Socket view looking towards the back of the laptop... white X X red black X X Ground Thanks. |
