Hi,
after 3 years and a half with my TravelMate 800LCi I was thinking to
buy a new laptop.

The choice is between those two:

- Acer TravelMate 5685LWMi
- Toshiba Satellite A100-110


The first one is worth 1330 EUR VAT incl., the second one 1600 found as
a bargain, brand new. While the bargain couldn't be available (I'm
waiting for a definitive reply from the seller), the first one can be
bought by many sellers and here it comes that I just have to decide.

The specs are pretty good actually, Core 2 Duo T7200, 2GB RAM, GeForce
7600 128MB etc... the Acer beats the Toshiba on functionalities, it has
a webcam integrated and DVI out. Toshiba is faster but for 270 EUR of
price difference I can make myself comfortable with something slightly
slower.

What it mainly concerns me is the Acer build quality, possible heating
issues and cooling efficiency. Other than that, I'd say keyboard and
touchpad usability.

The rest is hardware, really doesn't matter.


Any advice from you, gentlemen?
