Compaq Laptop 1700T Display problem.

Hello, Group:

I recently purchased another motherboard to replace one I burned out.
I installed the motherboard, but have no display, except externally and
light to the LCD, but no POST displaying except to the external
monitor. I'm almost positive the monitor survived before I fried the
motherboard, but could I have a bad video controller on this new
motherboard (not fully tested)?

Thanks,

--JP

The operative questions are 'where did you purchase your new board" and
'what were the conditions of sale'?

Sorry, have to ask...
The BIOS is set for LCD ?
If you do Fn+"monitor button " (4?), does it toggle
LCD, monitor, then both ?

Re: Compaq Laptop 1700T Display problem.

Bought the board on Ebay, so my suspicion it's the board is probably
correct. Also, the BIOS doesn't have an option to change the primary
vo.

Thanks,

Re: Compaq Laptop 1700T Display problem.

It varies by laptop, but the usual action is to cycle through the
following 3 items in some order:

-LCD [only]
-External display [only]
-LCD + External display (simultaneously)
