Redo a Sony?

Hi all,

I have a Sony PCG-7F1L laptop. I noticed that is has a hidden
partition. Is it possible to do a factory recovery of the operating
system with a special boot mode? The OS is messed up and
I need to reinstall. I was hoping I could do that with a special
start up routine.

thanks,
charles....

This is model VGN-FJ170/B, the Sony support page is
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/mod...mdl=VGNFJ170B#

In the Faqs check Knowledge Article C395689 - restoring using the
recovery wizard, which you should find on the C:\ drive. It is likely
that you can purchase the recovery disks since this is a relatively new
model.

Recovery Wizard gone. C: drive reformated. Installed XP Pro from
scratch. Problem was it wouldn't go to secure websites. Went through
a lot of tech support ended up reloading from scratch which fixed the
problem.

thanks.....
