Samsung X05 - Help !!

My wife has a Samsung X05 laptop which is not very well. The battery is
fine but the motherboard charging circuit has gone belly up. We have
looked at buying an external battery charger and run the X05 purely on
battery power but they are rare and expensive.

I have decided that the best option might actually be to buy a new
laptop. We are not looking for anything flashy, it will just be used
for office applications, email and internet. NOT interested in a
Centrino as we have a WIFI card. Similarly we have an external DVD
rewriter so a DVD RW drive is not needed. Laptops that meet the bill
seem to be fairly plentiful and cost not much more than buying the
charger unit. Not knowing much about laptop hardware etc would it be
possible to slot in the hard drive from the X05, so that we can recover
the last remaining files that had not been backed up on to DVD?

Sorry if the above sounds stupid or simplistic, suggestions would be
apprciated.

Thanks in advance

Re: Samsung X05 - Help !!

You can remove the hard drive from the old laptop, buy a USB enclosure
and stick the hard drive in it, plug it into the new laptop's USB port
and have access to all your old files as needed. Shows up as a
removeable disk in Windows Explorer.

Crikey!! That was fast, never thought about that option and it would
give more flexibility for taking to other locations etc.

Smashing, thanks for that.

Centrino doesn't mean it comes with WiFi. And there is nothing wrong
with getting a laptop with built in WiFi anyway. Most laptops come with
them nowadays anyway. And yes my new laptop came with WiFi while I
already had a WiFi card.
