WAS:Walmart $398 Laptop

I said I would get back to the group...so here I am. I had written a
complaint to Walmart about the $398 laptop being sold etc. etc.
I had gotten a preliminary email back from them asking for more
information. They also told me that they would have an answer for me
in a few days. It has been about 2 weeks and no response...so I bought
2 laptops from Dell. One was bought awhile ago and I just ordered a
second one. The first one was an excellent deal, better than any deal
that Walmart has or had. I also had bought a $598 laptop from Walmart
which I returned this morning. So the bottom line is Walmart lost over
$1,000 from a long time customer.I figure I spend about $7,000 per
year there. I will not stop shopping there totallybecause they are
convenient to my work, but I will not buy any big ticket items there
and I guarantee you my yearly total will be much less than it has
been. Target is not that far away. Take care.

There's nothing sillier than a half-assed threat...

"Well, I'll keep shopping at your store, but I certainly won't be buying
any big ticket items."

Just for the record, what "big ticket items" does WalMart have? <g>

Perhaps those "big ticket items" are China-made TV (Panasonix, Sonyx,
Samsungix) with a "big ticket": $59.99? ;)

Anyway..... WalMart is known (at least here in Canada) as place
with cheap trash that does not till long. This is not a place where one
should look for quality items.
There are very rare situations when U can find smth valuable with
low price tag.

Well I dislike Wal*Mart for other reasons. How they treat their
employees and suppliers for two. But cheap crap electronics is the way
to go IMHO. Especially when it comes to computers. No matter what you
spend, it is a piece of crap in a few years anyway. And I have found it
is better buying a new piece of crap and just replace it in a few years
and get another new piece of crap then to replace it. And it is cheaper
too. Electronics just moves to fast and it is just cheaper to buy cheap
and to replace often.

Nothing half assed about the threat at all. I said I won't buy any big
ticket items and I won't. I am about to buy a large screen LCD HD TV
and YES Walmart does carry them...and YES they are fairly big ticket
items. Do not forget that Walmart also has an online store...do you
not consider $10,000 diamong rings big ticket? I have to pick up $1.88
oatmeal today and yes I will get it from Walmart at lunchtime because
it is right next door from my job. It takes a lot of oatmeal to add up
to the tv, two laptops, and the new desktop computer I will be getting
in February.

"Oh, honey, the ring is beautiful! I love it! Where'd you get it?"

"WalMart."

<g>

If you're gonna boycott the store, BOYCOTT THE STORE!

The correct response to that question would be "Give it back!".

I agree with you on the ring, I'd never buy it there for sure, but I
have to admit I was shocked when I saw the prices of some of the stuff
they had. I didn't say I'd boycut. I said I won't buy any big ticket
items and I won't. I usually do all my XMas shopping there and so far
this year I have gone to Kohls, Target and Amazon for everything. I
even usually give a couple of $100 Walmart gift cards...this year I am
giving Starbucks, ITunes, and Home Depot. Believe me, I know my lousy
couple thousand dollars I don't spend there this year won't hurt
Walmart, but bad publicity has a way of multiplying. Walmart got a lot
of greif on the $398 laptop thing from a lot of different people from
what I've read. I still have a feeling I will hear from them, but we
shall see.
