When to replace battery

I'm just starting to use my IBM T22 for grad school (heavy use). I seem
to be having trouble keeping the battery fully charged. Bad outlet or is
battery for the laptop telling to replace it ? What is idea setting
manage your battery ? Desk top , low power usage ? Thanks.

How old is this battery? With care they can last over 10 years. Without
care or left in the laptop being charged they last about 2 years.
