battery fits but not compatible?

I've recently purchased a acer 2490 laptop and so I have recently bought an
extra battery model
batcl50l (not acer). The problem is that my computer says warning: this is
not an acer battery! It's refuses to charge!
What to do?

please help.

Leek

Try buying a third-party cellphone battery these days.

What would you rather have - expensive batteries or a burned lap?

Re: battery fits but not compatible?

Sometimes with a new third party batterythere isnt enough charge for the battery to register with the laptop for first use, or the cells havent been balanced properly (this can happen with the very very cheap chinese replacemensts). Third party laptop batteries are fine but you need to get from a good source, Try Batterytrader, here is a link for the battery you want - Acer laptop battery have a look they might do extended version batteries as well
