upgrade memory for dell latitude d505

Hi,

Long long time ago I had some experience with PC's, but now my
knowledge about hardware is almost nonexistent .. and my knowledge
about laptops is even lesser.

I just wonder if you could help me with this one:

I have Dell Latitude D505 laptop and there is a place for 2 memory
bones. One is engaged, and one is vacant. The one which is inside is
256mb 333mhz.

What sort of memory I need to buy in order to be compatible with what I
already have?

I assume it must be PC2700 and 333mhz as well. If I have already 256mb
bone in 1st slot ... does the second bone must be 256mb as well?

Thank you for help,
R

Go to the Dell website and do a search for your model; it's there and the
info you need as well.

Re: upgrade memory for dell latitude d505

I found when upgrading the memory for my laptop that using something that is
almost
the same will not work, go to dell and get the proper information before
purchasing memory.

Well a Dell website might help, but I found that the major memory
companies have excellent information. You just put in the make and model
and they tell you what will work in it. <grin>

That usually works, too, as long as your'e replacing all the RAM chips or,
if not, you KNOW for sure what's already in there is compatible with what
your'e buying.
Time changes things; I still think a Dell check is the first step to
take.
