| Re: how to replace battery cells inside Digital HiNote Ultra Donald - that's a 3yr old thread you are replying to. I doubt he still has the batteries open on the table "donald53" <no@spam.invalid> wrote in message news:12lm3r91a4ou7d4@news.supernews.com... >i have the same problem with the same digital ultra 2 laptop. how did > you get the battery case apart, i want to do the same as you are. i > build battery packs for scanners and 2 way radios i figure it would > be a easy fix i hate to pay $100+ for a $ 50.00 laptop. you can e > mail me at donaldgoss_53******.com i would like to know how to open > up the battery without destroying it. don > |

Grab it in a vise, across the width right at the glue line. Start at one corner and crack the glue. It takes some practice to learn just how hard to tap it. You want short, but strong taps to shear the glue. You can't just pry on it, have to break the joint. then just propagate the crack around the perimeter with the chisel and hammer. Chisel perpendicular to the side of the battery. IF you try to slide the chisel in the crack and push, you'll just tear things and make a mess. Break the joint with sharp taps. If you hammer too hard, you damage the cells or the circuit board. It's pretty easy about the third time you do it. Now, you have it open, now what? You really need a spot welder to change the cells. DO NOT UNDER ANY CIRCUMSTANCES LISTEN TO THE (insert favorite descriptive term here) WHO TELL YOU YOU CAN SOLDER ON THE CELLS. Yeah, I know, I'm whizzing into the wind..... mike |
