| Re: low cost laptop E-Bay; you can get plenty of laptops under $100, under $50, even under $30. But you have to know what you are buying, and don't expect a Core 2 Duo for $30, it ain't going to happen. Laptops under $100 are generally Pentium or Pentium II, AT BEST, or they are broken in some way. But you can get some useable if dated older laptops at those prices. atageagle******.com wrote: > I've been trying to buy a laptop for my young brother to tech him how > to use a computer. > where do I go for these laptops offered a very low cost or as low as > free? > Thanks > Yem > |

| Re: low cost laptop Re: "Have you ever personally gotten a working laptop from ebay with a power supply for under $60 including shipping? (Without first buying one or more broken ones in the attempt?)" Oh, yes. I've bought about 100 laptops in the past year. A few weeks ago I got three 4020CDT's ... which are Pentium II laptops with XGA TFT active matrix screens that often sell for about $120 [each] ... for $32 + $32 shipping ($64 total for all 3). The description not withstanding, all 3 were perfect and complete except for no hard drive (I got three 6 gig hard drives for $14 each ... more, actually, than the $10 each I paid for the laptops). I'm not making this up: http://cgi.ebay.com/ws/eBayISAPI.dll...m=250042890666 And I do it a lot, often. The stuff is out there, you just have to look and also you have to know what this stuff is, which is why I only buy Toshiba. I know almost every Toshiba model, and what to look for. And because I repair these, I have a "bone pile" of spare parts. I couldn't begin to do this with another make (IBM, Sony, Gateway, etc.) without a lot of effort. But if you know what you are doing, the stuff is available. Perhaps not immediately, it's basically a "hunt", and yes, you will pick up a few lemons along the way, but with patience you can find and get the deals. [You also have to know how to buy on E-Bay, generally. How to judge a seller and a product, and how to spot most of the crap products and crap sellers. It comes with time and experience. Note, I'm just a private individual, not a full-time business. My rating is over 700, and I've been on E-Bay for almost a decade.] |
