| DUSE (anybody aware of this) When you create your winxp/pro dos boot disk there is a downloadable file called "DUSE". You need it in your bootdisk autoexec.bat (which is empty) and your config.sys (also empty) in order for the bt dsk to recognize devices on the usb hub and to be able to access them from DOS. | Re: DUSE (anybody aware of this) DUSE is a DOS USB device driver installed via config.sys (like mscdex.exe, it may also require some entries in Autoexec.bat). It only works for some USB controllers and some USB storage devices (and only for storage devices, not for any other USB devices). It was written by one of the semiconductor firms that makes USB controller chips (for the life of me I can't remember which one -- Cypress, I'm thinking), but it happens to work with both all of their chips and also with some USB controllers by other firms. Because it's so "hit or miss", and wasn't written by Microsoft, it's strictly a "use at your own risk" type of thing. | Re: DUSE (anybody aware of this) Ok tnx for info. I will track down DOES and give it a try to see how it works out Barry. I had a belkin type 2 before which was lousey so went to Walmart and bought a "cyberpower" hub at half the price of the Belkin and it works like a champ. Somewhere I have two sheets of data on how to structure the autoexec.bat and config.sys files. In fact gives several ways of doing it. Thanksfor the info Barry.
