Problem w/charging battery Latitude c800

When charging my Latitude c800 the battery status on the right only
reaches 50% and shows nothing on the left. I've tried charging it with
the laptop on and off. I'm using an adaptor that goes
with the laptop, is there a battery charger I should be using? Any help
is appreciated.

This normally means the battery is aging. Best to keep it out of the
laptop (and any other batteries you purchase later). And just charge
them like twice per year. As they will last far longer this way. Keeping
them in the laptop on AC will usually kill the battery in about 2 years.
