Can't See Drive on HDD in an Enclosure

Hi,

My laptop crashed, and I bought an enclosure and threw my HDD into it,
however I do not see a drive. I have File Scavenger and was hoping
this would see it. Device Manager doesn't show anything either.

Any suggestions on what I can do to see the drive and possible recover
files?

Thanks and Regards,
John

Re: Can't See Drive on HDD in an Enclosure

Well, the enclosure may be bad, or the drive may be improperly
configured for that enclosure (master / slave / cable select).

OR, the drive may really be gone.

Try another enclosure, or try an IDE adapter.

I had this problem with a DELL laptop, and it was due that the hard drive
had a password set up
on it in the bios.

Can you hear the HD spin up when it's in the external enclosure? Sounds like
you've got a dead drive on your hands.
