| Laptop Speaker change? I have a laptop with the standard crappy speakers and sound card. I think it is the AC97 motherboard sound card. I was wondering if changing the speakers out with some Altec Lancing might give me a better sound. I listen to a lot of music. Where would I find some quality replacements? This can be done without too much trouble right? Thanks |

No. You might possibly find a speaker that will mechanically fit inside the laptop, but there is a lot more to the matter than just the speaker. A really crappy speaker in a really good resonant enclosure sounds much better than a really good speaker in a badly designed enclosure. Laptops don't have good sound. Live with it. Various specific models are better or worse than others, but none of them is a surround-sound experience in a box; the mechanical requirements are the main factor driving a laptop design. |

| Re: Laptop Speaker change? There's nothing you can really do internally. Of course you can use headphones or external speakers. No laptops have truly great speakers -- physical size kind of precludes that -- but some Toshiba models have relatively good ones. The sound was much better than the original laptop speakers. For more information: http://www.logitech.com/index.cfm/pr...ONTENTID=10908 |
