| Sony TX27GP keyboard marks screen A few months ago I bought a Sony TX27GP. I love it BUT..... The screen flexes and presses down on the keyboard when it's stored in the bag .This marks the screen. Some of the marks are now actually scratches. I took it back to Sony service and they tried to duck the warranty screen replacement by saying I had maltreated the unit. I had to fight very hard to get it changed. Anyone else having this problem with the same machine?? -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

| Re: Sony TX27GP keyboard marks screen Keevil: most laptops get a screen "marking" from the keyboards; not usually do they scratch, but it is not all that unusual. I've never had a laptop screen get scratched/penetrated, and I have a Sony Vaio. Good luck; first try the warranty folks; then the office of the president in Florida. If that doesn't work; your last resort will be to make a complaint to the secretary of state's office in the state it was purchased, state it was manufactured in, and state where the warranty is (CA), and state where their corporate offices are (FL). But that is pretty extreme, when the damage may be the result of how you carried the laptop... good luck. dr -- dr.news //stores.ebay.com/better-price-wireless (not better than you deserve, just more than you're used to) //free.better-price.biz (for new lines of wireless service; all carriers; the phones are almost always a better-price) "-keevill-" <keevillus******.com> wrote in message news:45454c4d$0$12096$88260bb3@free.teranews.com.. . >A few months ago I bought a Sony TX27GP. | Re: Sony TX27GP keyboard marks screen I would strongly disagree. This should never happen. The only time that I've seen anything like this (and I service laptops, see 100-200 per year) is when someone installs an "eraser tip" type Trackpoint cover incorrectly (or using the wrong part number tip). I'd look to see that the keyboard itself is properly mounted, and that there are no missing "bumpers" on the lid. dr <dr@better-price.biz. wrote: > Keevil: most laptops get a screen "marking" from the keyboards; not usually > do they scratch, but it is not all that unusual. I'd rather have a laptop that's 1/8" thicker and not scuff the screen...but the vendors don't seem to see it that way. I have a friend who's an IT professional responsible for many laptops. He always puts a soft cloth on the keyboard before closing the lid to reduce marking. I'd suggest it's a very common problem. Mis-assembly aggrivates it. mike |

I have now taken to doing exactly what the person above suggests namely putting a soft cloth on to the keyboard prior to closing the lid. Incidentally, the sales people in the Sony shop claim that they have never seen this before nevertheless the service people didn't want to assist. I have heard poor reports of Sony service from various people not just in my country and I probably will not purchase a Sony product to gain which is a pity because this product I'm using now is very good. -keevill- -- Posted via a free Usenet account from http://www.teranews.com |

We must be purchasing from totally different manufactures. ;) -- Bill |
