Hi. I am considering buying an HP nx9420 laptop. Seems like a nice
laptop, but I'm wondering if I can run Solaris on it.

Is there anybody out there who has an nx9420? Would you be willing to
run Sun's Solaris checker on it? It's downloadable from Sun's site,
and takes two minutes to run.

I'm going to answer my own question. Maybe somebody else will benefit.


My nx9420 arrived. I ran the Solaris 10 Check Tool on it. It couldn't
see the disk. (bummer)

Then I went into the BIOS, and changed the settings for the SATA disk
so that it would behave like a PATA disk. Ran the Check Tool again.
It said Solaris is likely to install on this system. (yummo!)

In the BIOS, you change "Act like a SATA disk" from enable to disable.
