Laptops with eraser head pointers

Time to replace my A22P with a newer model. Looking at the Thinkpads for
sure, but wondering in general who still makes laptops with the eraser
head pointers? Can't use the touch pads, never been able to.

Thanks.

Re: Laptops with eraser head pointers

I have used both and think that the touchpad is better if you take time
to get used to it (and if it's configured right, which is not always the
case by default). But I think that some Dell and some Lenovo models
still offer the trackpoint ... or in a few cases even both the trackpad
and the trackpoint. Other than Dell (and only on some models) and
Lenovo, I don't think anyone else is still offering them.

See what Dell has. I have a D610 that had both types of pointing devices.

Nonsense Roy! Those that don't remember history will be doomed to repeat
it!

"He who joyfully marches in rank and file has already earned my
contempt. He has been given a large brain by mistake, since for him the
spinal cord would suffice." -- Albert Einstein

Don't listen to people telling you to use a touchpad if you don't want
too bolt thrower. No reason to be forced into anything you don't want.
If we followed Roy's advice, we would be all living under Nazi rule
right now!

I personally feel taking off your hands off of the keyboard to reach for
a touchpad, mouse, or whatever is another second of wasted time. Very
inefficient! I guess some people don't realize this.

And Roy... how can one evolve to make your hands smaller so they don't
rest on the touchpad while typing? Pure rubbish Roy!

<Said in a soft, slow voice/>

Step away from the keyboard, Roy, and take your medication.

Thank you.

Re: Laptops with eraser head pointers

You know, telling someone to "STICK YOUR TRACKPOINT TO YOUR SMELLY
ARSE!!!" seems like a rather extreme response to someone in a discussion
about trackpoints vs. trackpads.

Hahahaha... I use mice, trackballs, trackpoints, and touchpads. I'm very
good with all of them and 90% of the time I just don't care which one I
use. Currently I am on a touchpad machine. ;) But I am the last one to
tell someone that they should use something they don't want to. Maybe
you should try that someday. lol

Personally, I use a Bluetooth mouse most of the time, but I find the
trackpoint somewhat annoying because it interferes with the G, H, and B
keys. Many laptops now have both pointing devices.

Re: Laptops with eraser head pointers

Friends of mine that work at HP/Compaq tell me that if you ORDER a
business model online/ from a reseller, the eraser-type joystick is an
option but by default you won't find them built that way ( / at retail).
Just select the joystick keyboard in your order. ( Like you, I prefer
the eraser joystick.)
