Do you find that people are frequently unsubscribing from the RSS feeds of your blog? Well, according to Darren Rowse of Problogger, there may be some specific things you are doing wrong which are causing this to happen. In fact, there may be as many as 34 things you are doing incorrectly. In his blog post, "34 Reasons Why Reader Unsubscribe From Your Blog," he points out the 34 most common mistakes bloggers make on their blog. The first and most common mistake: The blog has too many posts. Just think about it. When you visit to a website which is crammed with information, don't you become overwhelmed? I know I do, especially when the entire page is typed in the same size font using only black ink. When Webpages or blogs look like this, I feel like I'm never going to reach the end of the article and usually stop reading. Also among the top reasons why people unsubscribe to blogs were:
Blogs in which the Blogger posts infrequently
Blogs which have nothing interesting to say
Negative blogs
To read the rest of the list, you can visit his blog post, here. I know that some of the reasons he listed as to why people are turned off by a blog are reasons why I'm turned off by different blogs. For example, I'm usually turned off by blogs which are extremely negative. I also don’t like blogs which have extremely long posts that seem to go on forever. (On that note, I should probably stop writing so that I don’t do exactly that.) Share this post:email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it!
