| Cellular Bracelet Do you ever miss a call because you didn't hear your phone ring? Well, Cellular Jewelry is attempting to help eliminate this problem with their line of cellular jewelry. The jewelry, which included watches, bracelets, and pens, is programmed to light up whenever your cell phone gets a call. This way, you can have your phone on silent and still be alerted when you receive a call. I was able to get my hands on one of Cellular Jewelry's Cellular Bracelets. I decided to try it out for myself. Just in case your wondering, it actually worked. When my cell phone was called, the bracelet lit up. Unfortunately, although I think the whole idea of being alerted when your cell phone rings by means of a bracelet is a really cool idea, the actual product had some issues. 1) It lights up- Whenever you receive a call, two of the gems on the bracelet light up. Problem: If you are in a place where you are worried about your cell phone ring being a distraction, won't a bracelet lighting up be an even bigger distraction? 2) Was that my cell phone?- Although the bracelet can detect that a cell phone is going off, it can't distinguish between your cell phone and someone else’s. Therefore, if the cell phone of someone sitting within three feet of you rings, your bracelet will go off. This is a really big problem, especially for students. For example, in my history class, I sit within three feet of eight different people. So, if any one of them gets a call, my bracelet goes off. Now, if the point of the bracelet is to tell me when my cell phone is ringing, that point was just defeated because the bracelet only told me that one of the eight people sitting beside me got a call. Too bad I don't want to know if someone else got a call, I want to know if I got a call. 3)Two Gems- The bracelet consists of three gems. However, when you receive a call only two of the three gems light up. Therefore, when the bracelet lights up, it looks really weird. It almost looks like a string of Christmas lights in which one of the light bulbs burned out. 4) Size and Style-The design of the bracelet doesn't seem to fit the purpose of the bracelet. The bracelet reminds me of a bracelet my seven year old cousin would wear. Unfortunately, my seven year old cousin doesn't own a cell phone and if she did, I don't know exactly why she would need a bracelet to tell her when it's ringing. The point of having the bracelet is so that you can sit somewhere where you either can't hear your phone, or don't want others to know you have your phone, but can still find out when you have a call. Now exactly when is my seven year old cousin going to be put in this situation? On the other hand, someone my age or older might want to use the bracelet to alert them of any calls they are receiving. Unfortunately, due to the look of the bracelet we run into another problem. This particular bracelet would look tacky on the wrist of a business woman wearing a suit. 5) My cell phone isn't ringing!- While writing this article, I looked down only to see that the bracelet was lighting up. I thought to myself, "Oh cool! It's actually working!" However, when I grabbed my phone, it wasn't going off. The bracelet had gone off randomly. How annoying! Although the bracelet did have some issues, the overall idea of having a bracelet that lights up when you receive a call is a really good one. Who doesn't want to be able to sit in class and receive a phone call without getting in trouble? Share this post: email it! | bookmark it! | digg it! | reddit! | kick it! | live it! More... |
