Wireless shows up as Secure via internal card, NOT secure via external card

I've got a Lenovo R61e Thinkpad, WinXP.

Why does the same wireless network show up as a SECURE network when using the internal wireless card, but show up as a NON-secure network when using an external wireless card on the same machine?

This network also shows up as NON-secure on my wife's Mac laptop.

Thanks!
