Onenote Print Drivers on Vista 64 bit

Hi Folks. I've seen referrences that the Insert Files as Printouts is not
working on Vista 64 bit. I was wondering if any one had anymore information
and if there was an indication that this would be resolved, or if this is
even on their to-do list.
Thanks.

Re: Onenote Print Drivers on Vista 64 bit

There is no more information. The OneNote printer driver is not
available for Vista 64 bit, and there is also no information whether
there will be any driver in the future or not.
Most users have no real reason to use the 64-bit version of Vista
instead of the 32-bit one, so I would recommend to just stick with the
32 bit. I doubt I'll personally will ever use a 64-bit version of Vista.
I'll probably wait for the Windows after Vista to switch to 64 bit.

Except for the vastly improved security and reliability you mean? At home I
have two *identical* machines, only one has to run 32 bit because it needs a
wireless usb connection, and guess which fails to shut down properly, and
locks up for periods for no reason.

Read http://www.winsupersite.com/showcase...sta_ff_x64.asp

I can't believe an MVP would be saying "Oh, 32bit isn't important." We have
*one* 32bit PC in our office. The rest of us are 64bit XP or Vista.

* CIO's want 64bit because its vastly more secure (Address Space Layout
Randmonizer, NX, Hardware DEP, Enforced driver signing)
* Our customers need 64bit because we blow 2Gb in a heartbeat.
* Gamers want 64bit because it breaks the 2Gb limit and runs much faster.
* Home users don't like it because of a lack of drivers.

So what does Microsoft do? NOT PROVIDE DRIVERS FOR 64Bit OneNote! Good
example guys.

No question about the things you mentioned.

> * Gamers want 64bit because it breaks the 2Gb limit and runs much faster.

If the games take advantage of it...
> * Home users don't like it because of a lack of drivers.

Home users? Make that lots of users. The driver support for 64 bit is
bad at best. 64 bit is good for brand-new high-performance machines, but
most users don't have that. Why should I as MVP run around and recommend
the newest thing (well, first time it is widely available) in town to
users who probably won't be able to use half their existing stuff with
it? That's just insane.
The group of people who can actually use 64 bit to their advantage
compared to those who won't see any benefit at all or who just get a lot
of suffering/missing functionality is simply very small. Keep in mind
that MVPs are not Microsoft evangelists. Just because something is
available from Microsoft and is marketed as the new great thing in town,
doesn't mean that MVPs have to recommend it.
64 bit will be *the* thing for the Windows after Vista, because by then
we will have 64-bit drivers and applications that actually make use of
64 bit widely available. Right now, 32 bit is simply the faster and
easier choice for most users.
