I recieved an error about the cache file being corrupt. I noticed that the
unfiled notes were fairly large. Can the unfiled notes section being to large
cause problems?

I'd say the two things are unrelated. ON can handle Sections and Notebooks
of very large sizes. The UFN section is just a normal section in that
regard.

If you have recent backups and/or have synced the data successfully
recently, I would close OneNote and delete the cache file and let ON
recreate it for you.
