| Problem with search The search feature works for anything that I type into one note. This feature does not work for any text on documents or powerpoints that I insert into one note. In order for me to be able to insert documents into one note I had to install a print driver (XPS print to one note driver). Also, I believe I have WDS 4.0. When I try to install WDS I get a message saying "this update does not apply to your system." Although I am not sure how to tell if I have WDS or not. Any advice is appreciated |

This > feature does not work for any text on documents or powerpoints that I > insert into one note. How do you "insert" documents (of which kind?) and POWERPOINT-slides into ON? I assume: By *printing*. Right? The result of that in ON would be *images*, not text. > In order for me to be able to insert documents > into one note I had to install a print driver (XPS print to one note > driver). This sounds rather strange. :-( :-( So far I never came across anything with "XPS" in connection with printing *INTO* OneNote. Which kind of application might have told you to install a specific printer? I am really baffled because normally there is a printer called "Send to OneNote" which is automatically installed if one installs ON. And nothing more. No action needed. > Also, I believe I have WDS 4.0. | Re: Problem with search David Olsen wrote: > Press Win+F to see if WDS starts. Sorry David, that's ways too easy a guess. :-( :-( AFAICS the problem is not *WDS* but simply the handling of stuff printed to ON (normally resulting in images and therefore needing OCR treatment). What I do not understand is what "XPS" might have to do in this context. :-( :-( Would you know what a "XPS print to one note driver" might be?? | Re: Problem with search I have 64-bit vista and the type of file I would like one note to to search is PDF. I was under the impression that this is possible and would really benefit from it. When I insert the PDF I print to XPS, then I am prompted to save the file in the print to one note driver folder, then the driver asks where I would like to place the file in one note. | Re: Problem with search There is a known problem with OneNote, Vista-64 and printing. Check this blog for a solution: http://blogs.msdn.com/david_rasmusse...-solution.aspx Getting "Print to OneNote" to work may assist with sorting your other issue.
