How do I transfer the data from my old computer's OneNote (2007 version) to
my new computer's OneNote (same version)?

The one and only question is

"Where are your notebooks stored ?"

I assume that they are not stored on a file share, because your question
then wouldn't make sense ...
So we only talk about local files/notebooks !

Method 1

Hover with your mouse/pen over each notebook shown at the left pane in
ON. ON will display the path to the notebook.

Each notebook is represented by a folder in the windows file system,
which contains one *.one file for each section in the notebook.
And normally all notebook folders are under one "standard" folder for
all notebooks, set during the installation by ON.

This method has the advantage that you will see the real places, even if
you didn't store some in non standard places.

This method assumes that all your notebooks are open.

Method 2

Go to Tools -> Options -> Save

Shown there are 3 paths, where ON stores/saves the data.
The 3d path shows the standard path for notebooks.
If you never played around creating notebooks in other places then you
will find all your notebooks here.
Even the closed ones !

Now after you have found your notebooks (notebook folders)close your
notebooks and ON; and then copy these folders onto an usb stick for
transport.

Now goto your new computer, open ON, look under Tools -> Options -> Save
for the standard path for new notebooks and copy your old notebook
folders to that path.

Until now I have ignored two other items.

1. the unfiled notes section

If it's empty: irrelevant
If not: empty it before transport by deleting or moving to notebooks

2. backup files

ON backups automatically in intervals.
But if you are a little bit paranoid then copy the backup folder too.
The necessary paths (old/new) you will find under Tools -> Options ->
Save too.

Hope that helps ;-)
