Onenote with AceCad Digimemo tablet-Convert handwiriting to Text

I just bought an AceCad Digimemo tablet. This allows you to write
notes on an ordinary paper tablet with a special pen. Then you hook up
the tablet to your PC with a USB cable and the digital ink of the
notes is transferred. From their application, you an transfer to
Onenote. When the tablet is connected to the computer it appears to be
a disk drive and you can see the note files it created for each page
you write. You can also designate Onenote as the application that
opens the note file.

Everything seemed to work. I wrote a page of notes and was able to
import it into Onenote. I selected a couple of lines of the ink, then
selected "Tools|Convert Handwriting to text" in Onenote.

Nothing happened. No text but no error message either.

I created some notes with my TabletPC and I am able to convert them to
text with Onenote, so I know that is working.

Any ideas on how to get this to work or to debug what is going wrong
are appreciated.

Bob

You should ask AceCad:

Thanks for your suggestion. Actually, I have emailed them. But Onenote
imports ink from other note-pads such as Adesso Cyberpad and Pegasus
Mobile NoteTaker and also graphics tablets so I think debugging
problems with conversion of handwriting to text is of interest to
Onenote users in general.

So, any ideas on debugging the problem are appreciated.

I know this is not the case. I prepared a note with ink from Acecad
and from a document prepared on my TabletPC. I was able to convert the
TabletPC ink to text on my desktop PC with standard XP pro but I was
not able to convert the ink from Acecad.

I was also not able to convert the Acecad ink on Onenote on my
tabletPC either.

Here is the Onenote file. http://bcbob43.fileave.com/OneNoteWithInk.zip

Anyone have any ideas what is going on?

If someone has Onenote in Vista or Windows 7, I would appreciate it if
you could download the file and then see if you can convert the Acecad
Ink note to text.

I tried to convert your ink on my XP: no success ...
I too have no problems with converting handwriting on my tablet.

So my experience is the same as yours.

Sorry !

Perhaps John Guin will read your post.

Thanks. It's a data point. I sent a reply to AceCad. If they respond,
I will post it here.

I tested it under Vista Enterprise 32.
1.) The AceCad page could not be converted ON2007.
So the advice you received from the manufacturer obviously does not
work.

2.) I then tried it with the ON2010 TP.
Most of the stuff was converted. Problems with the formula, however

Thanks. I will bring this up with AceCad

Recall that there are two pages, one with tablet PC ink and the other
with Acecad ink. Correct me if I am wrong. You are saying that you
were able to convert the Acecad page with ON2010 TP. I assume this is
also on Vista.

Yes. This makes the difference.

Exactly.
(As said: problems with the formulas - especially as many parts were
overlapping).
