If you are taking part in the Technical Preview, pls be so kind as to post in the respective newsgroup of "connectnews". There is no use at all to post on the ON2010 issues in this group. This said, you are right that handling templates has not been changed. And AFAICS there will be no major changes. This is not good at all. Rainald |

I know we need to wait until it ships but it's shaping up as a evolutionary upgrade rather than revolutionary. I really wonder about the value of feedback to Connect. Popular requests seem to have been ignored to date. -- Regards John Waller |

"No major changes" was *not* meant in general, only for the template issues. There are many new things (apart from the "cloud" strategy) which are really valuable. > I know we need to wait until it ships but it's shaping up as a > evolutionary upgrade rather than revolutionary. I would not say so. The features for teamwork and sharing notebooks may well ne see as great innovation. A lot of other things obviously have not been in the developers' agenda. Among the missing things are especially the "graphics" issues (f.e.: still no grouping). And most of the gaps covered by the PowerToys remain as they were. > I really wonder about the value of feedback to Connect. Popular > requests seem to have been ignored to date. Although I had really often sent people to Connect, I must say that this channel obviously has been really dead for a long time. It seems that hardly anything did find the way to the agenda {siiiigh}. But you may see yourself as there will be a public Beta later this year. Rainald |

Let's wait until it ships :-) -- Regards John Waller |

The version shown in the Technical Preview is complete and AFAIK only bug elimination and minor revision will be done. What is show at preset is pretty much what the final product will be. Are you taking part in the Technical Preview? I did not see any postings from you in the TP newsgroups. Rainald |

I had just been wondering about your comments on a product you have not yet seen. Rainald |

I find it inefficient to post to another group, that does not seem to be relevant to the topic I opened. This group seems much more relevant than the connectnews; and indeed as the feedback at connect seem largely ignored or the channel does not seem alive. |

So far I am quite happy with the new version. But yes, nothing is perfect: some issues remain, which I thought could have been easy to implement. |

What effect should your posting have? What was your intention other than whining? > This group seems much more relevant than the connectnews; Not at all. To reach the developers "connectnews" is the proper place. The developers listen and they are most responsive. Daniel Escapa, the head of the team replies on each and any suggestion and complaint. > and indeed as the feedback at connect seem largely ignored or the > channel does not seem alive. That's a totally different issue. You must not mix the old "public" system "Connect" with the TP newsgroups in "connectnews". IMO it's really bad that the Connect channel for suggestions and reporting bugs has been dead for a long time. But we can't help {siiiigh} Rainald |

(I am supposed to manage the migration of part of our organization to ON, I am writing thenecessary documentation now, but it would be very helpful to know what will be going on in ON 2010) |

People have been "invited" to take part in the test based on an application. The possibility to apply gas ended months ago. > (I am supposed to manage the migration of part of our organization to > ON, I am writing the necessary documentation now, but it would be very > helpful to know what will be going on in ON 2010) As sad as it is, you just come too late. But there will be a public Beta-test later this year. Rainald |
