| OneNote won't insert images (or take Screen Clippings) I just installed Office Ultimate 2007 recently on my Vista 64-bit, and I've been quite pleased with the results. Except for OneNote. I was really excited about its functionality, until I discovered that I couldn't take screen clippings. I had the OneNote icon running in the bar, and whenever I use the Windows Key + S method (or Insert|Screen Clipping), the screen went transparent and I could successfully select an area. However, all that was ever pasted into OneNote was the date and time stamp for the screen clipping. The image was copied to my clipboard, as I could post the screen clipping in Word, but I couldn't re-paste it in OneNote. This brings me to my second issue: I can't insert images (using Insert|Pictures|From Files). I can drag images from the internet (Firefox 3.0.12), and they'll show up just fine. However, this functionality is nowhere near what Screen Clipping offers. I've been in communication with Microsoft about this, and they have tried to help but have thus far offered no solution. A possible conflict is that before purchasing Ultimate 2007, I had Office 2003 Home and Student installed. When I bought 2007, all the icons for 2003 disappeared, and I assumed they were uninstalled. It turns out they were still there, just upgraded and sitting alongside the ultimate programs. I uninstalled them, then re-installed OneNote, but with no change in the issue. Thanks in advance for the help! [EDIT]: I realize Mitch had the same problem in this thread: Can't print to OneNote or insert Screen Clippings or graphics, but I'm not experiencing problems with the printer driver and I honestly don't quite know what the "print to OneNote" function does. Nor do I care, at this point. Last edited by Leausm; 07-31-2009 at 08:16 AM.. |

What do you mean by this?? The sentence does not make too much sense to me {siiiiigh} > First I must copy and paste into a Microsoft application, > and then I can copy (AGAIN) and paste into OneNote. > I have tried repairing, running diagnostics and have > considered removing and reinstalling, but being a work > computer means I have to get IT involved and this usually > means more will be broken than repaired in the end. LOL AFAICS you have no other choice but having ON re-installed. Rainald P.S. Your posting came rather "scrambled". How come? |

| Re: OneNote won't insert images (or take Screen Clippings) What I mean by the pasting into word first is. I can copy anything out of Adobe (.pdf), but cannot paste directly into ON. I must first paste into Word or Excel, then copy again, and then I can paste into ON. As if there is specific memory allocated for Microsoft. I have tried repairing and that has not made a difference. My work computer uses ON 2007 and XP. I had a trial version of ON, but as I recall this feature was working, and am not sure when this feature stopped working properly. I have no problem to copy from Adobe Reader and paste directly into ON. The only observation I made with clipbrd.exe (a "hidden" clipboard viewer in XP) is, that Word changes the sequence of the generated different formats in the clipboard, especially for the format "Unitext". There were some rumours about the influence of sequence concerning copy & paste between ON and Open Office. The only idea I have is to ask whether it makes a difference to start ON before or after the copy in Adobe ? Bernd |

On my side it's just as Bernd reported: If I mark things in the Adobe Reader and copy the selection to the clipboard (Ctrl+C), I can paste that into ON pretty fine. > I have tried repairing and that has not made a difference. The only thing that comes into mind would be to un-install ON ad re-install it from scratch (after a reboot).
