| OneNote 2007 menu system different than Office 2007? I'm mainly just curious; was it an intentional design choice to use the old style menu bar system in OneNote 2007 instead of the new bucket menus in Word\Excel\Etc 2007? Is there a way to turn on the new style bucket menus or at least some way I can emulate them in OneNote? I really enjoy all the new additions and improvements to OneNote but I also really enjoy the new menu\toolbar combination in a lot of the other Office 2007 applications. |

| Re: OneNote 2007 menu system different than Office 2007? The new user interface you are talking about is called the Ribbon. What you described as bucket menus are tabs. Microsoft had only so many resources to invest for redesigning the UI in Office 2007, and those were all needed for Access, Excel, PowerPoint, Word and Outlook. They just didn't have enough to also do OneNote, hence it kept its user interface from 2003. There is no way to change that in OneNote. | Re: OneNote 2007 menu system different than Office 2007? Yah, MS probably could not afford an extra programmer :-) Let's help by sending me money, I promise to forward it to MS. Anyway, I love the ribbon and was today sorely dissappointed to see that the latest One Note did not have it. -c "Patrick Schmid [MVP]" wrote: > Microsoft had only so many resources to invest for redesigning the UI in > Office 2007, and those were all needed for Access, Excel, PowerPoint, > Word and Outlook. | Re: OneNote 2007 menu system different than Office 2007? If it was just one programmer...You need multiple program managers, multiple testers, multiple developers, usability studies in labs, etc., etc. Then you need to translate it into all 80-something languages Office ships, create icons for everything, documentation and help in all languages, KB,... Creating one Ribbon UI is really, really expensive.
