onenote workbooks not accessable on sharepoint

Hi,

When I try to connect to a onenote 2007 workbook on the sharepoint server, I
always get the error: "OneNote cannot open the specified location", although
the location is there. Everything works fine from WindowsXP.

Any ideas?

Re: onenote workbooks not accessable on sharepoint

So you are saying that you can access the share through explorer but cannot
open the OneNote notebook in the share via OneNote?

Can you create a file (e.g. a text file) in the share? This would show that
you have read/write access to the share.

You mention XP - is the failing computer's OS Vista?

Re: onenote workbooks not accessable on sharepoint

Hi David,

I have access to the folder on the share point server. I can create files
and folders there. However when I click on the OneNote document on the
Sharepoint server, OneNote tries to open the file and asks me if I want to
open the whole workbook. When I click on yes OneNote comes up with the
error: "OneNote can not find the file you specified."

That's really strange. I do have the link to the workbook on sharepoint and
if I click the link the sharepoint site opens. However if I try to open the
workbook from within OneNote I also get an error message saying that the
file can not be found.

My colleagues use the same workbook and access that from a Windows XP
computer and all works fine.

I have seen some other users on the internet having the same issue. however,
none of their suggestions really work.

Thanks,
gunter

Re: onenote workbooks not accessable on sharepoint

By logging onto a colleague's working PC can you open the notebook?
I am trying to isolate the problem - is it user account related or PC
specific?

Re: onenote workbooks not accessable on sharepoint

Hi,

I have the same problem:

I can login to the sharepoint website, see the content in both Windows
Explorer and IE 7, but can't open the shared notebook (which is accessible
from other machines).

Moreover, I can access other notebooks which are open on the same shaerpoint
server, and which are stored in other libraries!

Other posts on the web suggested that this has to do with .Net passport,
others suggestd the URL of the notebook
(\\server.domain\DavWWWRoot\mynotebook VS. http://server.domain/mynotebook)
as the notebooks I CAN access connect using the first type of URL while the
one which I CAN'T access uses the http:// type or issues .

Help would be appreciated!

noam
