Shared notebook opening as read-only

I am using a shared notebook (oneNote 2007). The notebook is located on a
sharepoint. It has been working very well until recently. When I open the
notebook, it opens as read-only. Sometimes all the sections are read-only,
sometimes some sections only are read-only. Sometimes when I open the
notebook, all is fine, but then all of a sudden in the middle of taking
notes, a sections becomes read-only.
I have tried creating a new notebook, and moving the sections into that file
- but the problem persists. All the files on the sharepoint are checked in
and I have the right access privileges (full control of the folder where the
notebook is stored). What is causing this issue and how can I fix it?
Regards,
Els

Check to make sure you have all the updates for OneNote/Office 2007.
There were some bugs in the initial OneNote 2007 release that caused
some SharePoint sections to sometimes be incorrectly detected as read-only.
