Hi,

I was wondering if anyone knows whether there is a converter available for
OneNote 2003. I downloaded the 2007 Trial, liked it a lot but accidentally
bought the 2003 version. I would very much like to use the files I made with
the trial in the 2003 version.

Once the files have been changed to the 2007 version, you can't get them to
go back to the 2003 version. There is no converter.

Pardon me for butting in here but I only today became involved with the ON
program. I have a 2003 portable version on a flash drive at this point and
of course it will not communicate with anything having a copy on other
computers..

I have XP Home and Office 2003 sans ON. I have hesitated loading my Office
2007 software which includes ON as I'm not sure how well it will all come
together after all the bother. So, a couple of questions here. Will this
worked so far?

With ON 2007 loaded on a desktop does it have the ability to save in 2003
format so the files are compatible and can be shared and or synced in both
directions?

I haven't opened the Office 2007 software up yet but is there a means in
this software for adding a portable version of ON 2007 onto my flash drive
or do I have to buy something else?

We have a good wireless network going for us so do just do the common shared
file thing to make that part work between the main computers?

The questions are really piling up here but I think that covers it.

Simply I guess can 2007 save in 2003 format and does the portable 2007
version come with the package for my flash drive if I need it?

Once you have saved a notebook in ON2007 format you will not be able to open
it in ON2003. Your answer here may be to upgrade ON2003 to ON2007.

If your two computers are running ON2007 they will be able to share or synch
notebooks between them.

When you say flash drive, are you referring to a notebook computer with a
solid state HDD?

As David already said, there is no downward compatibility.
ON 2077 has a totally different data format and notebooks which have
been converted to the ON 2007 format can no longer be used in ON 2003.
And there are no converter tools.

There is no "portable version" of ON 2007.
ON heavily relies on the usage of the registry. Therefore one can not
install ON 2007 on portable drive/USB stick.
*Notebooks* can be stored on USB sticks, however, and be used on any
computer where ON is installed. But they can only be used if ON is
installed on the computer.[1]

Yes, notebooks can be used "shared" in a network (regardless of being
wired or WLAN).
The main thing in so far is that the notebook files are stored just on
*one* of the computer and opened from the network share on the others.

As said before: There is no such thing as a "portable version".

Evidently I was misinformed on the 2007 portable version
Being able to copy a notebook to a flash drive will at least
facilitate transferring updates when off the network.

*only* (do not store them on one of the computers <!!>) if you are going

but wish to avoid disrupting working systems.)

It works with a certain limite set of features with Outllook 2003.
The advance features for co-operation with OL are only available in OL
2007.

You'd better install OL 2007. You'd loose too much otherwise.

There is no interaction between ON and Word - other than pasting things
or printing stuff from Word into ON [just like from any other
application]; this works fine with every version of Word.
