| RE: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! This original question was never answered - and I have the same problem. My original OneNote files were created in ON2003 (with all updates.) I have now installed a clean download of a full version of ON2007 (I never had the beta) and get the same error mesage on the actual section page: "This section is from a differenent version of OneNote and cannot be opened. Your version cannot load this file, but a converter may be available on the Downloads on Office Online Web site." I can't find a converter... Thanks! ~Deborah "AxeTracks" wrote: > I can't view my old onenote database now that I've updated my OneNote > software. | Re: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! That's an interesting one. Maybe one of the OneNote guys who typically hang around here will address it. I have never done an upgrade but from what I understand, it's supposed to convert the files automatically. It might have something to do with whether or not SP1 was applied to OneNote 2003 before you upgraded? -- Josh Einstein (Tablet PC MVP) Einstein Technologies Tablet Enhancements for Outlook - Try it free: www.tabletoutlook.com "IDICWorld" <IDICWorld@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:7C0BD69A-4F3D-4C06-83DB-3B9F9171F0CE@microsoft.com... > This original question was never answered - and I have the same problem. > My > original OneNote files were created in ON2003 (with all updates.) | Re: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! Hmmm... I have assumed that I have applied all upgrades, as it is set to do so automatically. It didn't occurr to me to check for an update, because I didn't have ON03 actually installed on this desktop - it was on my Tablet. Copies of those files were on my PC and that is what ON07 found but didn't convert. However, with this thought, I will check my Tablet and see if SP1 was applied and then try and open those files with ON07 on my PC. I would be interested in anything else the "OneNote guys" have to say! <smile> ~Deborah "Josh Einstein" wrote: > That's an interesting one. | Re: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! Okay let us know what you find. But just to be clear, I was just throwing that out there. I don't know what the cause of that issue would be, but hopefully someone with more knowledge about OneNote 2003 will chime in. I didn't use that version. -- Josh Einstein (Tablet PC MVP) Einstein Technologies Tablet Enhancements for Outlook - Try it free: www.tabletoutlook.com "IDICWorld" <IDICWorld@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in message news:E4E6AC67-4960-46EC-A296-D08EC430CBC9@microsoft.com... > Hmmm... | Re: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! As far as I know, there shouldn't be a difference between 2003RTM and 2003SP1 as far as the ability of 2007 to open up and convert the files. | RE: Old onenote files not viewable in new.. NEVER ANSWERED! You get this error when you try to access a 2003 *.ONE file in a Notebook in 2007? Can you describe the steps needed to recreate it? As far as I know, you shouldn't get that error message at all just by opening up a 2003 Section file. Can you verify that the files are OK when accessed under 2003 and are not corrupt? You should also check that they are not password protected. =?Utf-8?B?SURJQ1dvcmxk?= <IDICWorld@discussions.microsoft.com> wrote in news:7C0BD69A-4F3D-4C06-83DB-3B9F9171F0CE@microsoft.com: > This original question was never answered - and I have the same > problem.
