Audio recording - gone

I've been using OneNote 2007 to take notes and record my classes. Lately I
have been unable to access some of my new recordings. Yesterday I made sure
to watch the timer while recording to make sure it was on - it was on. Today
I clicked on the recording icon and nothing. It acts as if it never
recorded. Usually the recording menu bar will pop up, but it doesn't even do
that.

Going over my past notes I have so far found 4 dates when the icon showing I
inserted a recording is in the notes but there is no menu bar (the one with
the timer) and it will not open. I double click and nothing. when I
right-click and use the open option - nothing happens.

Any ideas??

Re: Audio recording - gone

Is there an *.WMA file corresponding to the missing audio in the
"C:\Documents and Settings\{yourname}\Local Settings\Application
Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\Audio Cache" folder?

Re: Audio recording - gone

I found a couple of the .wma files in the audio cache by right-clicking and
selecting open original which pulled it from the audio cache - it then opens
it using wmp rather than inside oneNote. I ended up copying the file from
the audio cache and inserting in onto the appropriate page, but I end up
losing the playback tracking ability - which is the reason I record into
OneNote and not into separate files.

I have NOT found at least two of the files - the icon is there, if you right
click , selt open (or open original) it attempts to open the file and shows
the file as being in "C:\Documents and Settings\{yourname}\Local
Settings\Application
> Data\Microsoft\OneNote\12.0\Audio Cache\filename" but there is nothing in the folder under that name or any name for the same date. It is like it vanished.

Any ideas?

In case you are still listening:
Perhaps Daniel Descapa's explanation of the cache might be of help.

Re: Audio recording - gone

I'm having the same issue. Recording lectures embed a wma file in the
notebook, but the *.one file size does not change, the recordings are unable
to be played back, and there are not any files in the ...\Audio Cache folder.
There are files in the ...\OneNoteOfflineCache_Files folder, but all the
audio files are 00:00 minutes long. Any help would be greatly appreciated as
I need this feature for my classes.
