| Onenote 2007 Dividing a Page Hello, I have Onenote 2007 on a Windows Vista machine running 2GB RAM. I have a page that contains about 3 hours worth of class notes, and every time I open it, it is slow to scroll and copy - basically everything just slows way down. I want to divide the page into subpages, as I have heard that that is how to speed things back up (other suggestions would be appreciated.) Does anyone know how to do this efficiently. I'm afraid if I try to copy an hour worth of lector notes with the selection tool, onenote will freeze up or at least take a while. Thanks! -cjkogan111 |

| RE: Onenote 2007 Dividing a Page Some questions: 1. Are these typed or handwritten notes? 2. Are there audio recordings inserted? Video? 3. How large is the .one file on the hard drive? 4. How many "outline elements" (the little box which draws around the area on the page into which you insert data)? For instance, if these are handwritten notes, there probably are many, many boxes, but if typed, there may not be that many. -- Thanks, John Guin OneNote Test Team http://blogs.msdn.com/johnguin "cjkogan111" wrote: > Hello, > I have Onenote 2007 on a Windows Vista machine running 2GB RAM. > I have a page that contains about 3 hours worth of class notes, and every > time I open it, it is slow to scroll and copy - basically everything just > slows way down. > I want to divide the page into subpages, as I have heard that that is how to > speed things back up (other suggestions would be appreciated.) > Does anyone know how to do this efficiently. | RE: Onenote 2007 Dividing a Page Hi John, Thanks for the reply! Here are some answers to your questions 1) Kind of a mix, let me explain. I was writing (handwritten) notes in a pdf program (bluebeam pdf revu) before I really discovered that onenote would be better for the job. Anyway, I printed all of those notes to onenote, and all of them (about 4 weeks of notes) are on one page in the section. In another section (section 2) I have about 3 hours worth of notes which were handwritten in onenote. It is in this section (section 2) that I really noticed the screen scrolling slow, the long delays when selecting, random switches from pencil mode to typing mode, and a few other things probably related to it running slow. I'm not having much trouble with section 1 in terms of speed. I should also mention that I've put a bunch of short clips of text with tags on them in both sections 1 & 2, which are linked to a "contents" page. 2) No audio or video recordings 3) 19 MB or so which is about 1/3 of the total size of all my onenote files (a bit larger than expected compared with the rest of the notes, but I'm not terribly surprised.) 4) Not sure exactly what you mean here. It is handwritten (in section 2), but I'm not able to see any boxes around the ink unless I select it, and then it is just 1 selection box.
